Percy began playing drums at the age of 9 and started playing professionally at age 18, playing with several Twin Cities top 40 and classic rock bands. In 1991, Percy began touring with the contemporary Christian group, Big Big Fish which included recording with Nashville producer Tedd T. Since 1991 Percy has been very active in the Twin Cities Christian music scene, playing and recording a number of styles including rock, hip hop, urban gospel and contemporary pop. In 1995, Percy started working as a percussionist also and was the touring percussionist for national recording artists Go Fish, and plays percussion and drums for the nationally acclaimed interracial praise and worship band Heart of the City as well as the award winning urban gospel group Anointed Praise. In addition to a long list of local and regional artists, Percy has worked with a number of national artists including Don Moen, Joel Hanson of PFR, Tony Vincent, Greg Long and most recently, Bryan Duncan. His work is featured on Bryan Duncan's latest live CD, recorded in Minneapolis. Percy has played on over 20 CD albums with various artists, including the new Living Stone project. Percy Gutierrez joined Living Stone in May of 2002. Percy states: "From the first time I played with Living Stone it felt right. It is the kind of music I grew up with and is the perfect style and fit for my kind of playing. I believe in what the music is about lyrically, and personality wise, it's also a good fit." "Living Stone rules!" (Actually, he never said "Living Stone rules," but it sounds similar to something he might have said.) Percy is a compensated endorser of ElectroVoice microphones and uses them live and in the studio. |
